On Thursday we went swimming at Dave's with Becky and her kids, it was pretty fun. Breanne didn't really enjoy herself too much which was probably my fault because I took her down the slide first thing. I just let go of her when we hit the water because I went down quite aways, by the time I came up she was pretty mad! She had a life jacket on and had flipped on her back and was kinda screaming and kicking her legs. She did really good though, it took me a minute to catch her cause she was kicking enough to swim away from me. Eric came by for his lunch break and swam with us for awhile too. Brac didn't get in the water too much either. He was kind of afraid. Last year while we were in Vegas he started doing really well and swimming by himself with the life jacket on. I wish I had been thinking the beginning of the summer and put him in swimming lessons I guess we will have to be sure and do it next year.
Yesterday was the Cook family reunion in Burlington. We just went and visited with some people and they had a little program. In the program they had some stories about our ancestors and my great grandparents with a little slide show of pictures. Some of the older grand kids, my dad and his cousins, told stories and memories about my great grandparents. I never met my great grandfather but I do kind of remember my great grandmother a little bit. I think I was only about 5 when she died. She was a very funny lady! My grandpa told a story of him and his brother when they were kids:
My great grandma's visiting teachers were over visiting and they had caught a cat and took it into the kitchen, they pried its mouth open and dumped a bunch of lemon juice in its mouth! He said they didn't have to let the cat go it more clawed its way down and right into the room with my great grandma and her visitors. The cat ran around the room, over and under chairs foaming at the mouth. They visiting teachers were sure it had Hydrophobia or something!
Grandpa said he will never forget that! I'm not sure I will either I can only imagine that poor cat. From the rest of the stories they told about great grandpa he must have been a lot like Uncle Ernie, or I guess I should say Ernie is a lot like he was.

Update on the running. Happy to say I have done really well! I have run at least 4 times a week since I started and still going strong. I have only lost 4 pounds though. I saw Cailee yesterday and she actually noticed that I have slimmed up a little, it made my Day!

I'll never forget grandpa's story either. I can't believe I've never heard that one before! I read about the "freakies" first on Lissa's blog. That's too cute.
